Welcome to HDKP!
HDKP was established in 2006. Part of the Great Clips family established in 1982, our franchise believes in our brand. We are constant learners, growing and thinking outside the box to make our franchise successful. We enjoy helping others, especially those in our community and make a point each year to find ways to give back.
Our franchise consists of 33 salons in 2 markets, Dallas/Fort Worth and Wichita Falls. We have a huge support team consisting of salon management, Area Managers, Regional Managers, a Corporate Recruiter, the Director of Operations, and Franchisees. We are a winning team, honored with numerous awards by our corporate founders.
We believe in continuing education, and our team does too. That is why we invest in our team members by providing resources and classes to help them thrive.
We also think a lot of our customers, and are grateful for their commitment to our company, and feel they deserve the very best from us! We are serious about our brand and ensure that our teams are prepared to deliver the customer service our customers expect.

About our team
Todd McCown Franchisee
When Todd McCown became a Great Clips franchisee in 2003, he had one big goal: build a team that could shine brightly among thousands of Great Clips salons in North America – and he has been doing it ever since. Today, Todd runs over 30 salons with his two companies, Kitty Paw LLC and Honking Dog LLC, leading them to regularly outperform the competition – both locally and across the entire Great Clips system.
Todd attributes all this success to his incredible team. He is dedicated to creating real career paths, complete with top-notch training and benefits that go beyond the basics – think high wages, health insurance, and even a 401k with a 4% match. In 2024, he opened a new training center to help everyone on his team level up.
His out-of-the-box approach and dedication to building a supportive, growth-focused environment have brought in awards like Rookie of the Year, three General Manager of the Year awards, numerous Main Sail awards, retail sales awards, and Brand Excellence awards. His team still holds the all-time DFW sales record for total sales in one week.
Inside the business, Todd oversees the areas of finance, real estate, legal and marketing. Outside of the salon world, Todd has a finance degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and two professional designations (Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst). He also likes to relax by shooting shotguns. He lives in Frisco with his wife, Mia, and has two college kids, Rush at Texas A&M and Leia at the University of Arkansas. Passionate about reading, giving back, and making a difference, Todd is just as committed to his team as he is to his community.
Amy Montgomery Director of Operations and Franchisee
Amy Montgomery is the Director of Operations at HDKP, where she’s focused on enhancing the salon experience through fresh ideas and training. Before diving into the salon world, she spent time in computer programming. In 2009, she decided to chase a long-held passion and became a licensed cosmetologist in 2010, kicking off her career at Great Clips. Her dedication to the brand and knack for efficiency helped her climb the ladder from Assistant Manager to Salon Manager, Area Manager, General Manager, and finally, Director of Operations. In 2022, she took a big step by becoming a franchisee while still holding her Director role, thanks to the mentorship of Todd McCown.
Now, Amy blends her tech skills and creative problem-solving with her salon know-how to streamline operations and develop the processes and programs that guide HDKP toward success. She is responsible for setting strategic operational goals, responsible for the flow of operations, creating and implementing processes and safety procedures, analyzing productivity and performance, training and human resources. She believes that continuous learning and growth are key to achieving success and promotes this mindset within her team, empowering everyone to reach their full potential, offering support to help them grow both personally and professionally.
Anyone who meets Amy will quickly see that she is passionate about everything she does, living by the rule that if she commits, she goes all in. Not only is she devoted to her work at HDKP, but also to her husband of over 20 years, Cameron and their two kids, Peyton and Madeline. In her free time, she enjoys a bit of friendly competition, participating in running events around DFW. She also loves playing her cello and curling up with a good book to unwind.
Marlene Bunnell Corporate Recruiter
Marlene is a dynamic force in talent acquisition. With a solid background in restaurant management, she made a smooth transition into the hair salon world, starting out as an Administrative Assistant. In just a year, her dedication and great people skills earned her a well-deserved promotion to corporate recruiter.
In her role, Marlene loves meeting new team members and helping them find the perfect spot within the Great Clips family. She’s truly everyone’s best friend, always thinking about how she can support others and help them succeed. Her teammates appreciate her warmth, making everyone feel like family right from the start. Passionate about the company’s mission and values, she effortlessly shares that enthusiasm with potential candidates. A strong team player, she’s excited to build a long-term career at Great Clips, contributing to a culture of excellence and collaboration.
Marlene isn’t just a people person—she’s also a big animal lover! If you meet her, you can bet she’ll have pictures of her pup, Max, to share. And she’ll likely show off photos of her daughter, who she’s incredibly proud of, along with her devoted husband.
Brittany Reed Regional Manager
With over 16 years in the hair care industry, Brittany started her career fresh out of high school, always knowing she wanted to be a cosmetologist. She began as a part-time stylist at Great Clips in Wichita Falls in 2018 and worked her way up through various roles, eventually becoming the Regional Manager for the DFW area.
As a Regional Manager, Brittany leads a team across several salons, blending her love for hairstyling with her strong management skills. Her team would say she’s the creative one, always coming up with out-of-the-box ideas to motivate everyone. When you meet Brittany, you’ll instantly feel her genuine care for others and her focus on creating a positive culture in the salons. She believes that every salon has its own unique vibe and that everyone can find a home at Great Clips; it’s all about putting the right people in the right salons. Her bubbly spirit and bright smile keep everyone feeling positive and upbeat when she’s around, and she believes this is the key to motivating teams to achieve success.
Outside of work, Brittany loves spending time with her husband and son, relaxing with her family, getting lost in documentaries, and enjoying the great outdoors.
Jamie Villarreal Regional Manager
With 29 years at Great Clips, Jamie Villarreal has built an impressive career that started as a stylist right out of cosmetology school. She’s excelled in all sorts of roles at Great Clips, racking up awards like the Gem Award, 6 Mainsail Awards, and 4 Brand Excellence Awards along the way.
As a Regional Manager, Jamie is known for her down-to-earth personality. Her years of experience in the salon make her a trusted source of knowledge, and her teams really appreciate her straightforward communication. Jamie has been dedicated to Great Clips for her entire career, so it’s clear she knows the brand inside and out, making her an awesome leader for her team. She takes pride in keeping her teams together, and many of her team members stick around for years because they feel comfortable working with her and know she has their best interests—and the customers’—at heart when making decisions.
When she is not living her best life at Great Clips, Jamie loves spending time with her tight-knit family, which includes her husband and three kids. She enjoys traveling, especially to the beach, whether it’s a local spot or a cruise to an island. And let’s not forget her animal family! Jamie has a big heart for animals and is a dedicated supporter of the humane society.
Tara Carloss Regional Manager
Originally from California, Tara Carloss moved to Texas in 2012 and has since built a solid 36-year career in cosmetology, along with experience as a law enforcement officer. Known for her dedication to helping others, Tara brings a structured approach to her work, making sure her salons run smoothly and successfully.
Tara started her journey with Great Clips after being inspired by a visit to a salon in Little Elm, Texas. She was impressed by how efficiently the team handled a large number of customers and felt a strong urge to be part of that environment. Driven by her ambition, she joined Great Clips and quickly worked her way up to become a Regional Manager. Her team respects her for her unwavering belief in the brand and how fairly she treats everyone, which creates a culture of inclusivity and respect. Tara is a strategic thinker who’s always looking for ways to solve problems and make her team's time at work both comfortable and productive. She genuinely cares about the success of her team and Great Clips, aiming to make it the number one choice for customers while striving for excellence.
When not working, Tara loves staying active, especially in water-related activities. She’s an accomplished platform diver and enjoys spending quality time with her mom, two kids, and grandchildren.
